New agriculture as a solution to environmental challenges
The initiative is the result of the identification of agriculture's potential to contribute to the imperative need for society to achieve a neutral balance of carbon emissions and preserve natural resources.CARBOAGRI, through the transition from the use of chemical fertilizers to organic alternatives and the use of other regenerative agriculture practices, addresses these challenges and positions the Andalusian agricultural sector at the forefront of this change.
The use of organic matter in circular economy systems is presented as a key solution to improve soils and reduce carbon emissions generated by agriculture,particularly those related to the use of chemical fertilizers, which contribute significantly to global warming; and the environmental impact can be further improved thanks to regenerative agriculture practices such as no-tillage or crop rotation, among others.
It is essential to demonstrate, quantify and verify the benefits of these practices, so that farmers have all the tools to prove their contribution to a more sustainable agricultural model..
The project is part of a global evolution of agricultural practices, supported by the private sector and public institutions.Aligned with this particular need, the European Union has highlighted the importance of addressing the fertilizer issue as a priority. Among the solutions proposed by the EU are the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices and the replacement of mineral fertilizers with organic alternatives.CARBOAGRI provides an innovative and practical response to these challenges.
